Waikato-Tainui College for Research and Development

Who we are:

The Waikato-Tainui College for Research and Development is the research and academic arm for Waikato-Tainui. Opened in 2000, the College was described by Te Arikinui Dame Te Atairangikaahu as being the tribe’s “gift to the nation”. The College is a physical memorial to the settlement and history of the raupatu (land confiscation) and has as its core focus the interest, wellbeing and advancement of Maori.

Our values:

The College is underpinned by the values of Kiingitanga.

The strengths we bring to the consortium:

  • Leadership in post-Treaty settlement development and Maori development potential
  • Strong networks across business and education settings
  • Strong relationships with other iwi and indigenous peoples
